New Delhi: Google has started rolling out its latest Android 17 Beta 2 upgrade on February 26, just two weeks after releasing the Android 17 Beta 1 upgrade. This latest update brings a range of changes to the users’ interface of the eligible Pixel devices. Several of the updates include a limited-access contacts picker, EyeDropper API, bubbles, and much more. Now let’s see what the latest features we get in the latest Android 17 Beta 2.
Bubble
The users can now bubble any of the applications by long-pressing launcher icons. On the large screens, the latest bubble bar in the taskbar manages organized and anchored bubbles. For the uninitiated, Bubbles is a windowing mode separate from messaging bubbles.
EyeDropper API
The latest system API enables applications to capture pixel colours from anywhere on the display without requiring screen capture permissions.
Contacts picker
This latest system-level contacts picker offers temporary, session-based read access limited to only specific data fields that the users choose to share. It also enables selection between personal and work profiles by reducing the need for applications to request full Read Contacts permissions.
Touchpad Pointer Capture
Captured touchpads now behave like the mice, reporting relative movement and gestures rather than raw finger coordinates. Legacy absolute mode remains available. Combined Accounts and backup menu replaces Back up or copy data and Passwords, passkeys, and accounts.
Redesigned privacy indicators
When the application used the user’s device camera and location, both icons appeared at the top right corner of the screen in a pill-shaped green enclosure. With the latest Beta 2 upgrade, they will be shown in two separate enclosures, with the location icon shown in blue rather than green.
