New Delhi: Google has officially announced that it is expanding its Translate application’s live translation feature with headphone support to iPhone users in India. Live Translate with the headphones feature was earlier limited to Android in select regions, but is now rolling out more widely across both Android and iOS.

Additionally, it is available in countries including the US, the UK, Japan, and other European markets. This feature will also support over 70 languages.

The users can hear real-time translations directly via their headphones, making it easier to follow conversations, travel, or communicate across languages. The live Translate feature with the headphones was first unveiled in beta last year. Live Translate is going to feature in the Google Translate application, which will enable users to hear translated speech in real-time.

Rather than reading the text translations, the users can listen to them directly via connected headphones. This latest feature also tries to preserve the tone and style of the original speaker by making the conversations feel more natural instead of robotic.

This feature has started rolling out on iPhone, extending beyond its earlier availability on Android. Google is also rolling out to more countries apart from India. It also supports more than 70 languages, including Indian languages. Once it is enabled, the application will listen to spoken language and deliver translated audio in real-time.

This enables users to follow conversations without constantly looking at their devices. The feature can help in everyday situations, such as talking to someone who speaks a different language, or while travelling to understand announcements, directions, or interact with the locals.
