Govt gives nod to scrapping of junk vehicles

Margao: State govt on Tuesday gave its approval for the scrapping of unclaimed and abandoned vehicles that are cluttering South Goa.According to an official communication from the home department, the vehicles, which were legally forfeited to govt, will be disposed of through the Goa Solid Waste Management Corporation.

The collector has been instructed to transfer these abandoned vehicles to the corporation, which will oversee their disposal at a state-registered vehicle scrapping facility in accordance with established procedures.The decision aims to clear the backlog of derelict vehicles that accumulated over time, while ensuring their disposal is carried out in an environmentally sound manner.
