In a heartwarming gesture aimed at encouraging academic excellence among government school students, Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy surprised Class X toppers from Nalgonda district with a sponsored flight journey and two-day trip to Visakhapatnam and Araku Valley.
The Minister had earlier promised students during his visit to Tipparti mandal that those securing top marks in the SSC examinations would receive a ‘surprise gift’. Fulfilling that promise, he invited the meritorious students to his camp office in Hyderabad, where he interacted with them and handed over flight tickets.
A total of 14 students from various government schools in Tipparti mandal, along with three teachers, will travel by flight to Visakhapatnam and also visit Araku Valley. The students will stay in a three-star hotel during the two-day educational and recreational tour.
Addressing the students, Mr. Komatireddy said poverty should never become a barrier to talent and assured the students that he would continue to support deserving youngsters, including bearing expenses for higher education if necessary.
The Minister also highlighted the importance the government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy places on education. He stated that the State government was spending nearly ₹22,000 crore on education and constructing Young India Integrated Residential Schools across constituencies to strengthen opportunities for underprivileged students.
“We used to look at aeroplanes in the sky and wonder when we would ever travel in one. Thanks to Minister Komatireddy sir, we are now getting that opportunity,” the students said emotionally. Among the toppers were students from ZPHS Tipparti, KGBV, PM SRI ZPHS, and TGMS Model School, with several scoring above 550 out of 600 in the SSC examinations.
