GPSC announces Veterinary Officer application window, final answer key for Assistant Engineer exam and Town Planner interviews
The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) on Tuesday issued a series of important updates related to recruitment processes for several government posts, including Veterinary Officer, Assistant Engineer (Electrical), and Town Planner positions in the state.The announcements include reopening of an earlier advertisement following amendments in recruitment rules, release of a final answer key for a preliminary examination, and publication of an eligibility list for interviews for a senior urban planning post.Advertisement for Veterinary Officer recruitment re-opened; exam postponedThe GPSC has re-opened the recruitment advertisement for 70 posts of Veterinary Officer, Class-II under the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation following amendments to the recruitment rules.
According to the commission, the rules were modified through a government notification issued on March 5, 2026. The amendment changes the requirement related to registration with the Gujarat Veterinary Council or the Veterinary Council of India. Under the revised provision, candidates appointed through direct recruitment must obtain registration with the statutory councils under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 at the time of appointment if they are not already registered, instead of at the time of application as mentioned earlier.
To allow fresh candidates to apply under the revised eligibility condition, the online application window has been reopened from March 12, 2026 (1 pm) to March 19, 2026 (11:59 pm). Candidates who had already applied earlier do not need to submit their applications again. The preliminary examination scheduled for April 5, 2026 has been postponed for the time being, and the revised date will be announced later.Final answer key released for Assistant Engineer (Electrical) prelimsThe commission has also released the final answer key for the preliminary examination conducted for recruitment to 139 posts of Assistant Engineer (Electrical), Class-2 in the Roads and Buildings Department.The examination was conducted on October 5, 2025 under Advertisement No. 10/2025-26. It carried a total of 300 marks, including Part-A with 100 marks for General Studies and Part-B with 200 marks covering the concerned subject.GPSC had earlier published a provisional answer key on October 15, 2025 and invited objections from candidates. After reviewing the representations received, the commission has now issued the final answer key, enabling candidates to estimate their scores more accurately.
Candidates who qualify in the preliminary stage will be called for a 100-mark interview, with the final merit determined by giving equal weightage of 50 per cent each to the preliminary examination and interview.Eligibility list for Town Planner interviews announcedThe commission has also published the eligibility list of candidates shortlisted for interviews for the Town Planner, Class-1 recruitment under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department.A total of 58 candidates have been shortlisted for interviews against 12 posts under Advertisement No.
06/2025-26. The interviews are being conducted on March 10, 2026 at the GPSC office in Gandhinagar.Candidates have been advised to verify their eligibility as per the conditions laid down in the original advertisement. The recruitment process forms part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen professional capacity in urban planning as Gujarat continues to experience rapid urban development.
