Devotees witnessed a grand spectacle at the TTD-run Srinivasa Mangapuram temple on Thursday as the idol of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara was carried in a ‘Mohini’ avatar in the morning and on the ‘Garuda Vahanam’ in the evening.
The ‘Mohini’ avatar was observed on the fifth day of the nine-day annual festival, where the idol was dressed up as a damsel and paraded on a finely decked-up palanquin, with the idol of Sri Krishna accompanying on another carrier.
The devotees who gathered around the procession were captivated by the beauty of the ‘Mohini’ carrying a parrot in her hand.
Meanwhile, the ‘Srivari Lakshmi Kasula Haram’ adorned to the Tirumala idol was taken out in a ‘sobha yatra’ from the TTD’s administrative building to the temple. The antique ornament was adorned to the idol of Kalyana Venkateswara for the ‘Garuda Seva’ observed in the evening.
The TTD presented a six-petal golden ‘Yagnopaveetam’, with a 4-kg diamond ‘Mopu’ studded on it, estimated to be worth ₹6.40 crore, to the temple on the occasion.
It was a spectacle for the devotees as the idol was presented in a grand procession upon the Garuda Vahanam, traversing the vicinity of the temple in the evening. Meanwhile, the six ceremonial umbrellas used for the processions were presented to the temple by Bhashyakara Kainkarya Trust in Tiruninravur near Chennai.
The trust founder-trustee Dinesh Kumar brought the umbrellas and handed them over to the TTD’s Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, in the presence of board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy, Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani, Joint Executive Officers V. Veerabrahmam and A. Sharath.
