Hundreds of residents in Jaipur's Sushilpura, barely seven minutes away from the Chief Minister’s residence, have fallen sick owing to polluted water coming through taps for several days.

Residents in Sushilpura have been reeling under the adverse effects of contaminated water containing sewage discharge flowing through taps.
Water, yellow and black in colour and emitting a bad odour, has led to hundreds of local residents falling ill, with widespread complaints of stomach infections, loose motions, vomiting and general sickness.

Several residents that India Today TV spoke to claimed that for seven to eight days, polluted water had been coming out of taps, resulting in many -- young and old -- falling sick in the locality.

“I have been suffering from vomiting and sickness for the past several days,” one of the residents told the India Today Group.

Local BJP MLA Gopal Sharma visited the area, but despite that, locals complain that nothing has been done to improve the water quality.

“I have been buying water from outside for drinking. Everyone in my family has fallen sick due to contaminated water,” another resident said.
Locals allege that a sewage pipe had burst a few days ago, resulting in sewage effluents getting mixed with the water being supplied to homes in the locality.

The local dispensary has witnessed a large number of cases of people falling sick due to contaminated water.

Despite repeated complaints, the situation continues to remain grim, with many in Jaipur's Sushilpura still reeling under the effects of polluted water.

“Thousands have fallen sick due to contaminated water in Sushilpura. The water got polluted after the main road, which did not require repair, was dug up. The sewage pipe broke, and the effluents mixed with the water supply, leading to contamination,” a resident said.
