The Energy Department officials will begin door-to-door verification process of all the Gruha Jyoti beneficiaries from Wednesday (July 1), according to a release.
The Gruha Jyothi scheme, which was launched in July 2023, is a flagship programme of the State government, which provides free electricity up to 200 units for residential households of Karnataka.
The release stated that Escoms meter readers and Escom staff will visit the houses of consumers to check records and collect the information of beneficiaries. This process will be completed on-site using a mobile application and a declaration form.
Requirement
The department has asked all beneficiaries to keep the following documents ready, including Aadhaar Card (for verification only), Passport size photo of the beneficiaries, Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Tenancy/Rental Agreements (wherever applicable), Ration Card and Caste Certificate.
Since an on-site check by the meter reader is the only way to complete this verification process, the department has requested all consumers and beneficiaries to extend their full cooperation to the visiting staff to ensure a smooth and quick update.
The verification drive will be commenced in the jurisdiction of all the five Escoms including Bescom, Mescom, Hescom, Gescom and CESC.
