The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) has launched a door-to-door beneficiary data collection drive under the State government’s flagship Gruha Jyothi, one of the guarantee schemes, from July 1 to update the records of all beneficiaries.

As part of the exercise, CESC meter readers and other authorised staff will visit consumers’ homes to collect and verify beneficiary details. The verification will be carried out on-site using a mobile application and a declaration form.

The Gruha Jyothi scheme, introduced in July 2023, provides free electricity up to the prescribed consumption limit for eligible households. The ongoing verification aims to update beneficiary information.

Beneficiaries have been asked to keep the required documents ready during the visit. The documents include the Aadhaar card, passport-size photograph, voter identity card, PAN card, tenancy or rental agreement (where applicable), ration card and caste certificate (where applicable), according to a press release.

CESC clarified that physical verification by its authorised meter readers is the only approved method for completing the exercise. Consumers have been urged to cooperate with the CESC staff, who will carry valid CESC identity cards during the verification process, the release added.
