GU to have qualifying test for Master of Engg admissions

Panaji:The GU-QET is for students who have completed a four-year UG programme in engineering, a three-year UG and two-year PG programme, or a five-year integrated programme in STEM courses.The candidate will be eligible for admission provided he or she qualifies in the GU-QET. Students with Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degrees will be eligible to seek admission to ME programmes without the GU-QET, provided they have 50% marks in BE courses or an equivalent CGPA.Applications will be received at the respective colleges up to July 15, and the test is scheduled to be held on July 25 and 26. Applications for the ME seats will be received directly at the respective colleges.“Candidates shall be permitted to apply for a maximum of two programmes for GU-QET. The GU-QET shall be for a duration of two hours,” the GU notification says. “The question paper shall be of 100 marks. The question paper pattern shall be Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type. There shall be no negative marking. The minimum qualifying marks is 40.”The GU-QET results will be announced on July 31. The merit list for candidates who are eligible for admission without GU-QET will be displayed at the respective engineering colleges on Aug 4.

The merit list for candidates who are eligible for admission with GU-QET, based on the availability of seats, will be displayed on Aug 7, GU said.There are 24 seats on offer for ME in structural engineering, 15 in electronics communication & instrumentation engineering, and 18 each in industrial engineering, geotechnical engineering, power & energy engineering, industrial automation & robotics, AI & machine learning, IT & engineering, data sciences, computer-aided structural engineering, and AI & data sciences.
