GURGAON: Police have arrested a man from Nimoth village for allegedly barging into a house, demanding Rs 10 lakh at gunpoint, and attempting to shoot a resident after his demand was refused.According to police, the incident took place on June 25 under the Sohna Sadar police station area. In her complaint, the victim's wife alleged that the accused, identified as Narendra, forcibly entered their house and pointed a country-made pistol at her husband, according to news agency PTI.She alleged that Narendra demanded Rs 10 lakh in extortion and pulled the trigger with the intention of killing her husband when he refused to pay.

However, the weapon reportedly misfired.Police said the woman tried to snatch the pistol from the accused during the confrontation and suffered injuries to her hand in the process. Narendra then fled the spot, leaving behind the firearm and allegedly threatening the family.Acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch team arrested Narendra on Saturday. An FIR has been registered in connection with the case.Police said a country-made pistol and a live cartridge used in the crime were recovered from the scene.

During interrogation, Narendra allegedly confessed to demanding extortion money and attempting to shoot the complainant's husband. He also revealed the involvement of his associate, Sarfaraz, a resident of Satlaka village in Gurugram district, who remains absconding, police said.According to a Gurugram Police spokesperson, Narendra is a habitual offender and has three criminal cases registered against him in Gurugram, Faridabad and Nuh districts, including a murder case, a case under the Essential Commodities Act, and an assault-related case.
