Gurgaon records humid day but relief on the horizon

Friday’s maximum temperature in the city settled at 40 degrees Celsius

Gurgaon: After a hot and humid Friday, residents may get intermittent relief over the coming week. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places across Haryana on June 27 and 28, followed by a fresh spell on July 1 and 2. Weather activity is expected to remain subdued on June 29 and 30, with partly cloudy skies prevailing through the forecast period.Friday’s maximum temperature in the city settled at 40 degrees Celsius, 2.1 degrees above normal, while the minimum of 23 degrees Celsius was 4.4 degrees below normal — the lowest minimum recorded anywhere in Haryana. High humidity made outdoor conditions uncomfortable through the day. Across the state, the average maximum rose 1.3 degrees from the previous day and remained 3.3 degrees above normal, with Rohtak the hottest at 43.4 degrees Celsius.IMD said isolated rainfall over the next few days may bring temporary relief, though humid conditions are likely to persist until more widespread rain activity develops. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover around 39 degrees Celsius before dipping to around 37 degrees on July 1, when thunderstorm activity is expected to intensify.
