Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg has warned that legal action will be initiated against motorists who park their vehicles indiscriminately on roads, causing inconvenience to the public, obstructing vehicular movement, and disrupting traffic management.As part of his field inspection on Thursday, the commissioner visited the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility at Jagadamba Junction under the GVMC South Zone. He reviewed the parking operations, vehicle movement, occupancy levels, and interacted with the facility operators to obtain details regarding its management and usage.Commissioner stated that the Multi-Level Car Parking facility was developed under the Smart City Project with modern amenities by investing substantial funds, with the objective of reducing traffic congestion in Visakhapatnam and providing a convenient parking solution for citizens.He observed that indiscriminate roadside parking not only leads to severe traffic congestion but also causes inconvenience to pedestrians and commuters besides obstructing sanitation operations. He informed that, henceforth, vehicles parked illegally or inconveniently on roads would be identified through CCTV surveillance, and appropriate penalties and legal action would be taken against the violators in coordination with the Traffic Police.
