Stating that the Bidadi Integrated Township is a real estate project, which involves loot of money, Union Minister for Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday (June 14, 2026) said that it was not in the interest of the State but will help land mafia and land grabbers’ profit. The Janata Dal (Secular) will stand with the farmers and seek legal remedy against the project.
Commenting on the Chief Minister’s statement that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appreciated the project, Mr. Kumaraswamy said: “After facing opposition from people and farmers, the Chief Minister is now claiming that the Prime Minister has appreciated the project. Where has Mr. Modi set up townships and industries? He implemented them in the earthquake-hit region. The situation in Bidadi is different. There are thriving dairy and farm activities here. Has he [Chief Minister] brought it to the notice of the Prime Minister?”

Mr. Kumaraswamy also said: “It was a one-to-one meeting between the Chief Minister and Prime Minister. No one knows what he [Mr. Modi] has spoken? The Chief Minister should not misuse the Prime Minister’s name to sacrifice the interest of the State’s farmers.”
Mr. Kumaraswamy said that 20 years has passed since it was conceived by his government in 2006, and that the Government should seek consent from farmers before any project is implemented. “Instead, Congress Government is acting like autocratic Government trampling the farmers.
Mr. Kumaraswamy said that the Congress Government has been acting on similar lines for some time. The past, and pointed out at the denotification of 1,000 acres of the 3,000 acres notified for the Arkavathy layout. The Kempanna Commission was set up to probe it. I do not know where the report is rotting.”
