Congress leader and MLC Addanki Dayakar called BRS leader T. Harish Rao a “victim within his own party” and questioned his recent political conduct, which according to him, is only “spewing venom on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy”.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, he alleged that “no matter how much he strives, Mr. Harish Rao is placed only after BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao.”
Recalling a recent meeting, he said that Mr. Harish Rao appeared happy and at ease when he visited the residence of Congress Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. “When he meets our leaders, he feels free,” Mr. Dayakar said, hinting at internal strains within the BRS.
The Congress MLC questioned Mr. Harish Rao’s ‘silence’ on issues raised by K. Kavitha. “Harish Rao holds press meets every day. Why is he not responding to Ms. Kavitha’s questions? Is he unable to speak up?” Mr. Dayakar asked.
Referring to the controversy surrounding Sharada Peetham, Mr. Dayakar said sarcastically that perhaps “Mr. Harish Rao should be made its head if he feels so aggrieved. Why does he show more anguish than the Peetham itself?”.
He noted that land allotted to Sharada Peetham in Andhra Pradesh had been cancelled. The BRS regime allotted two acres to the institution at a nominal rate of ₹1 per acre. The Peetham had accepted the cancellation of the land allotment, he said, adding that Congress stands to protect Sanatana Dharma. “We are against vendetta politics. If we believed in revenge, we would have ordered arrests the moment we came to power.”
