Harry Kane had plenty to celebrate after England’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16.

The only problem? He could barely find his voice.

The England captain was left croaking through his post-match interviews after an emotional night at the Estadio Azteca, where the Three Lions survived a relentless Mexican fightback to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Jude Bellingham’s first-half brace put England in control before Kane coolly converted a penalty in the 60th minute to restore a two-goal cushion. But the result was anything but straightforward. England played the final 40 minutes with 10 men after Jarell Quansah’s red card and were forced to withstand wave after wave of Mexican pressure before finally sealing a memorable victory.

‘I’m Speechless’

When Kane eventually faced the media, his celebrations had already taken their toll.

“Speechless," Kane said during his post-match interview on the FOX broadcast. “I can’t even talk."

The Bayern Munich striker sounded no better when he later spoke to the BBC, revealing his voice had disappeared after joining teammates and supporters in jubilant post-match celebrations.

“My voice has gone," Kane said. “It was a crazy game, we had to fight. We had to find something… Everything was against us, we found a way."

“I’m speechless, I can’t even talk… I’ve just been singing there," replied Kane.

Wonderwall Echoes Around The Azteca

As England’s players celebrated with more than 3,000 travelling supporters, the atmosphere inside the Azteca turned into one giant singalong.

Players belted out Oasis classic Wonderwall, which has become an unofficial anthem for England’s supporters during this World Cup, before joining fans in singing Three Lions after securing a place in the last eight.

The celebrations, however, were tempered by concern for Jordan Henderson.

The midfielder suffered a freak injury after attempting to jump over the advertising hoardings during the post-match celebrations, landing awkwardly on his arm. Henderson then received oxygen on the pitch before being stretchered off and taken to hospital.
