The Haryana Police, based on a tip-off from the Kozhikode Town police, arrested eight persons, of whom seven are foreign nationals, from Gurugram in Haryana for large-scale manufacture and distribution of synthetic drugs in south Indian States.

This is the first time the police have been able to bust such a racket and locate kitchens where drugs are manufactured. The arrest of Siraj, a native of Malappuram, by the Kozhikode Town police in February this year, was a turning point in the investigation that led police officials to Delhi and Gurugram, from where Siraj claimed to have sourced the drugs.

The arrested include six Nigerian natives, one Nepali native, and one from Mizoram. Except for one Nigerian, the other foreigners do not have the necessary documents to stay in India. The police said that they had been conducting sales through the dark web, and that some of them were wanted in similar cases in other States. The police also seized 1.60 kg of Salfa, 904 grams of cocaine, 2.34 kg of raw cocaine, ₹7,500 in cash, 42 mobile phones, three electronic weighing machines, and packing materials.
