Hazaribag Municipal Corporation: Two Councillors Elected Unopposed in Wards 36 & 13

Hazaribag: Avinash Kumar Yadav and Vikas Yadav, two lone candidates in fray for the post of councillors to ward number 36 and 13 of the Hazaribag Municipal Corporation, were elected unopposed on Saturday, officials said.

Avinash and Vikas were declared winners by the district election officials in a statement.

No other candidate had filed nominations in these wards.Notably, the last date for withdrawing nominations was on Friday.Notably, Vikas (57), who won from ward 13, is the younger brother of incumbent Barhi MLA Manoj Yadav. Avinash’s mother Devi Gop had served as the councillor of ward 36 from 2018 to 2023. Avinash (38) was his mother’s representative and remained actively involved in addressing civic issues in the ward.“Avinash set an example by remaining available for them round the clock. This was the reason no one from the ward filed a nomination, making him win unopposed,” Devtulya Tigga, a resident of ward 36, said. The newly elected councillors attributed their victory to the trust and confidence of locals and said they would continue to work with the same commitment in the coming term. Residents said both take care of their respective wards and remain available round the clock.
