HC orders meeting over advocates’ parking issues

Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court has directed the Dhanbad principal district and sessions judge to arrange for a joint meeting in his chamber to resolve the dispute between the lawyers and the district administration over parking of advocates’ vehicles in the Dhanbad Civil Court.A division bench of chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar on March 12 have also ordered the Dhanbad deputy commissioner and senior superintendent of police, along with representatives of the Dhanbad Bar Association to actively participate in a joint meeting to resolve the dispute. The association had filed a petition before the HC informing it about the difficulties of advocates related to parking of their vehicles.

The civil court does not have a suitable parking space for which cars of advocates are parked on the campus of the adjacent Sadar Hospital and in the road outside the court campus. Often due to haphazard parking of vehicles, there is a jam resulting in disruption of traffic in the area.High court advocate Shailesh Kumar Singh, while appearing on behalf of the association, pleaded before the division bench that a joint meeting of the lawyers’ association and the district administration ought to be held to explore avenues of finding a solution to the problem.

The HC, while accepting the proposal of a joint meeting, directed the district administration and the members of the association along with Shailesh Kumar Singh to sit with the Dhanbad principal district judge to find an amicable solution to the parking problem. The case will again be heard on April 23.
