Kochi Dec 12 (IANS) The sensational 2017 actress assault case reached a decisive point on Friday as the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court sentenced all six convicts to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment, ruling that the prosecution had proved charges including kidnapping with intent to commit rape (IPC 366), criminal conspiracy (IPC 120B), and gang rape (IPC 376D).
Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Friday rejected a petition filed by convict Anil Sharma seeking release from custody. Sharma has been convicted for murder of an inmate while being in Birsa Munda Jail and had contended that he has already been in prison for more than 25 years. Sharma had pleaded before the HC that he is a heart patient and requires medical treatment for his condition.
The HC, however, was not satisfied with Sharma’s contentions and rejected his petition.
