HC summons city’s top cop over ACP’s ‘half-hearted’ report

Bhopal/Jabalpur: A division bench of MP high court on Tuesday summoned the police commissioner, Bhopal, on Wednesday to explain an action taken report presented by ACP, Jahangirabad, Bittu Sharma Bhateley in the form of an affidavit , which the judges could not decipher. The judges said it appears that the report has been prepared half-heartedly and no serious efforts have been made by the police authorities and asked the commissioner to remain personally present before the court to explain the report. The matter relates to Nawab Sentingwala from Bhopal. The court had sought to know the list of Nawab’s relatives and his property. Nawab Sentingwala, a resident of Bhopal, had filed an appeal in HC in 1996 after he was convicted in a murder case by a Bhopal sessions court.

After he was granted bail by HC, he or his lawyer stopped appearing in the court in the hearings, making the court issue an arrest warrant against him.Taking exception to failure of the police to execute the warrant, HChad sought an affidavit from police. The bench of Justice Vivek Agarwal and Justice A K Singh, in their order while referring to counsel for the state govt Manas Mani Verma, said “We have perused the action taken report filed by ACP, Jahangirabad. We wanted to know where in the report the ACP has described the list of relatives of Nawab Sentingwala and where are the details of property.”The commissioner shall also explain the meaning of the expression “Fibre massage” as mentioned in paragraph 9 of the affidavit, said the judges while listing the matter on Wednesday.
