Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court on Thursday sought UP govt’s response on the petition challenging the order of inspector general of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) directing inquiry into the running of madrassas in Uttar Pradesh in view of the allegations of foreign funding. The petition, filed by association of teachers of UP madrasas, challenges the probe order on ground that there was no evidence of foreign funding of these madrassas.IG (ATS) on Dec 9 last year directed Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to conduct an inquiry into the running of madrassas in UP.On behalf of the state, it was submitted that the writ petition is premature as only a direction for an inquiry has been given. The bench of Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Satya Veer Singh fixed May 4 as the next date for hearing.
