Now, Kerala transgender activist accuses Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil of 'sexual misconduct'

KOCHI: After Malayalam actor and model Rini Ann George and writer Honey Bhaskaran came forward with allegations, a prominent transgender activist in Kerala has now accused CongressMLA Rahul Mamkootathil of sexual misconduct.Speaking to the media on Thursday, the activist, who is also a former member of the Kerala Transgender Justice Board, alleged that the legislator tried to lure her to hotels in Hyderabad and Bengaluru saying "he wanted to rape her."“I first met Rahul Mamkootathil during an election debate held as part of the Thrikkakara assembly by-election. Following that, he contacted me, and initially, our conversations were friendly.

However, his messages soon turned into sexual talk. When I started ignoring him, he continued sending messages via Telegram, most of which could be viewed only once. In one such conversation, he even said he wanted to rape me,” she claimed. The activist, who identifies herself as a BJP supporter, further alleged that the MLA continued to contact her even after a Malayalam actress publicly accused him of harassment on Wednesday. She added that she had previously raised complaints about his behaviour with Congress leaders.Calling the allegations serious, she challenged the MLA to prove his innocence and demanded that he step down from his post. “Rahul has no moral right to continue as an MLA,” she said.
