Omari Jones, the Olympic boxer from Orlando, Florida, says Terence Crawford will beat Canelo Álvarez. Jones is a bronze medalist from the 2024 Paris Olympics in the 71 kg welterweight class.
He turned professional in January 2025 and has won his first three fights by knockout. Terence Crawford (41 wins, no losses) and Canelo Alvarez (63 wins, 2 losses) will fight on September 13, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Omari Jones told TMZ Sports that Crawford’s weight gain looks right, and with hard training and strong will, Bud Crawford has the edge.

Omari Jones sees something special in Terence Crawford, also known as “Bud.” Omari Jones says Crawford’s training and nutrition are spot on for this big fight. He told TMZ Sports, “The nutrition, the training … Crawford, he trains hard.” He added, “It looks like he put it on the right way.”
Omari Jones also emphasized Crawford’s fire, saying, “Competitiveness is always gonna put him over the edge.” Even though Crawford moves up several weight divisions to meet Canelo, Jones trusts his skill and heart will shine through.

Omari Jones won his bronze medal at the Paris Olympics in August 2024. He lost a close semifinal to Uzbekistan’s Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev.
This made Jones the only boxer from Team USA to win a medal in Paris. After the Olympics, in January 2025, promoter Eddie Hearn signed Jones, and he turned pro.
