Head constable stabbed near Mehkri Circle; police launch search for assailant

A police head constable was allegedly stabbed by a man near Mekhri Circle in the early hours of Sunday.

The injured has been identified as Vijay Rathod, a head constable attached to the D.J. Halli Police Station. According to the police, the incident took place shortly after midnight when Rathod, who was travelling on his scooter, stopped near the Mekhri Circle after noticing a man allegedly creating a public nuisance.

“As the head constable stopped to check on the situation, the suspect suddenly attacked him with a knife before fleeing the scene,” a senior police officer said.

Rathod sustained injuries in the attack and was rushed to a hospital. His condition is stated to be stable.

The R.T. Nagar police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the armed man.
