Telangana witnessed heavy rainfall across several districts on the intervening night of Tuesday (July 22, 2025) and Wednesday, with Venkatapuram in Mulugu district receiving the highest rainfall at 25.5 cm, according to data recorded by the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday (July 23, 2025).
A total of 12 locations in the State reported rainfall exceeding 10 cm. These included 18.4 cm in Eturunagaram (Mulugu), 15.8 cm in Mangapet (Mulugu), 14.9 cm in Alubaka (Mulugu), 14.4 cm in Bheemadevarpalle (Hanumakonda), 12.8 cm in Manuguru (Bhadradri Kothagudem), 12.3 cm in Govindraopet (Mulugu), 11.5 cm in Mamillagudem (Suryapet), 10.3 cm in Mallur (Mulugu), 10.2 cm in Tekumatla (Jayashankar Bhupalpally) and 10.1 cm in Karkagudem (Bhadradri Kothagudem).
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, Shaikpet witnessed the highest rainfall at 8.6 cm, followed by Jubilee Hills (7 cm), Tolichowki (6.5 cm), Langar Houz (6.2 cm), Gachibowli (6.1 cm), Chandanagar (5.8 cm), Lingampally (5.2 cm), and KPHB (4.5 cm).
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and neighbouring areas for Wednesday. According to an impact-based forecast released in the morning, the IMD said the city is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected to occur at evening or night. Some spells may be intense and accompanied by gusty winds, the forecast noted.
