The national capital witnessed heavy rain on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more showers later in the day.

The heavy downpour disrupted the vehicular movement in parts of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad as waterlogging hit several arterial roads, including Minto Bridge, Vijay Chowk, Moti Bagh flyover, Rafi Marg, and the Nizamuddin flyover.

The IMD’s forecast for the day read “thunderstorm with rain," with the mercury expected to hover around a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius.

The downpour prompted the Delhi Traffic Police to issue advisories warning of delays and urging commuters to use alternate routes.

At the Indira Gandhi International Airport, authorities issued a weather advisory but confirmed that flight operations remained normal.

“All flight operations are currently normal, but passengers are advised to check their flight status regularly and stay in touch with airline staff for updates," the airport authority said, adding that ground teams were coordinating closely with all stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Several airlines, including IndiGo and Air India, also issued alerts cautioning travellers about potential weather-related disruptions.

Passengers were advised to plan their journeys well in advance, opt for alternate routes to the airport, and confirm their flight timings before setting out.
