Three people were arrested on Saturday after the Assam Rifles seized heroin worth Rs 2.10 crore hidden in 30 soap cases during an intelligence-based operation in Assam’s Meharpur.
The Assam Rifles, along with the police, detected suspicious movement during the operation, prompting them to track a vehicle that attempted to evade interception. A brief chase ensued before the joint team successfully intercepted the vehicle.
Upon searching the vehicle, security personnel recovered the 30 soap cases containing heroin weighing approximately 349 grams. The seized contraband is estimated to have a market value of around Rs 2.10 crore.
Three individuals were caught in connection with the heroin recovery. Authorities have handed over the accused and the seized drugs to the police for further investigation.
Officials described the operation as a significant success in ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
