Sound Party, a new game show on Vijay TV, cranks up the volume on weekend entertainment. If you are looking for a riot of high-decibel fun and fast-paced guesswork to liven up your Sunday afternoons, the show adds a vibrant twist to the lineup of Tamil television game shows.

Vijay TV fame standup comedian Kuraishi, who dons the role of host in this show, brings his signature blend of wit, spontaneity, and sharp timing. The episodes buzz with laughter as celebrity guests race against the clock to identify quirky sounds and recognise film actors by imitating their voices.

The first round opens with some wild singing as contestants scream in high-pitched voices to keep the ball on video screen rolling without hitting blocks. Then there are audio-based challenges and a series of sound-based rounds.

The contestants and audience are caught in fun twists, as guests take on tasks, such as dunking their heads in water to mouth a song or movie title for teammates to guess and win prizes worth up to ₹1 lakh. The one-hour show premieres every Sunday at 3.30 p.m. and is also available on JioHotstar after the television broadcast.

Horror flicks

For binge-watchers looking for thrills to fill their screentime, some of the recent OTT releases promise edge-of-the-seat entertainment. From the haunting village mystery Paramasivan Fathima on Aha Tamil to the psychological twists of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s Saaree on Lionsgate Play, fresh releases offer an escape into chilling storytelling at the tap of a button.

Directed by Esakki Karvannan, the horror-thriller Paramasivan Fathima has Vimal and Chayadevi as lead actors, along with prominent artistes, including M.S. Bhaskar. It is a blend of horror with social drama set against a rural backdrop, ideal for audiences who are into Tamil folklore and horror flicks.

Saaree, an intense psychological drama inspired by real-life incidents, is written and presented by Mr. Varma and directed by Giri Krishna Kamal. Speaking about the film, Mr. Varma, in a press release, said it is not just a fictional story; the movie reflects the frightening reality of how digital spaces have turned into breeding grounds for stalking and obsession. The movie is available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi.
