Full list of highest totals in T20I cricket: Entering 1-0 down in the three-match T20I series against South Africa, England went all guns blazing in the second T20I at Old Trafford in Manchester on Friday to become only the first team to score 300 against a Test-playing nation. Inserted by South Africa, England registered the third-highest-ever total in T20I as they managed 304/2 in 20 overs.
Openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler showed their range-hitting abilities and helped England get to the 100-run mark in just 5.5 overs as the home team became the second quickest team to score 100 against a full member side. Buttler reached his half-century in just 18 deliveries and added 126 runs for the opening wicket in 7.5 overs before being dismissed for 83 off 30.
Salt continued the onslaught and became the fastest centurion for England by scoring a ton in just 39 deliveries. He remained not out on 141 off 60 as skipper Harry Brook too flourished with the bat, scoring 21-ball 41.
Zimbabwe hold the record of the highest total in T20Is, when the African nation had scored 344 runs in 20 overs against Gambia in 2024. Nepal sit second on this list with 314 runs against Mongolia. India came very close to breaching the 300-run mark but fell short by just 3 runs against Bangladesh in the home series last year.
