Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday joined the growing opposition criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over a viral video purportedly showing an artist dressed as Lord Hanuman dancing while carrying a BJP flag during a roadshow of BJP national president Nitin Nabin.
In a post on X, Thackeray said he was “still shocked" that the BJP had depicted Lord Hanuman dancing to welcome its party president, and linked the controversy to the ongoing political row surrounding allegations related to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
“Still shocked that the BJP can depict Lord Hanuman ji dance and welcome its president," Thackeray wrote.
He further said, “This is rubbing salt on the wounds of all of us, who are anyway aghast at the way the BJP is quiet on how the trustees appointed by the BJP government have indulged in the loot of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya."
Calling the episode “a shame", the Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA concluded his post by saying, “Ab Hindu Maaf Nahi Karega!"

The controversy stems from a video that surfaced on social media showing an individual dressed in the attire of Lord Hanuman dancing while waving a BJP flag during a roadshow associated with Nitin Nabin.
The clip has gone viral, drawing criticism from several opposition leaders, who have accused the BJP of disrespecting Hindu religious sentiments.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on the BJP over the same video, alleging that the party had brought “damage and disgrace" to Hinduism and demanding an apology to the Hindu community.
“The damage and disgrace you people have inflicted on Hinduism, perhaps even the foreign invaders in India’s 5,000-year history, haven’t done as much. The way you’ve looted Hindus, no one has looted them like this until now."
“You people are a stain on Hinduism. Watch this video. What are you doing? Do you feel any shame? Apologise to the entire Hindu community," Kejriwal mentioned in a post on X.
In another post, Kejriwal contrasted what he described as the ideological differences between the AAP and the BJP, claiming his party worships Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman while accusing the BJP of using Hindu deities for “power and money."
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also criticised the BJP, alleging that the party had reduced Lord Hanuman to a “flag-bearer" of the BJP.
“What kind of joke is this? BJP leaders are making Lord Bajrang Bali dance in their procession by handing him the BJP flag. If this continues, the BJP will wipe out ‘Hinduism’ and impose ‘BJP religion’. It will declare its leaders as gods, build temples for them, and force the people of the country to worship them," Singh said.
The controversy has unfolded alongside the ongoing political debate over allegations concerning the Ram Temple trust in Ayodhya.
