The Indu Makkal Katchi has urged that the plea for the installation of Vinayaka idols at new places this year should be considered positively by the district administration and the police.
In a memorandum submitted to Collector B. Priyanka Pankajam, IMK State General Secretary D. Gurumurthy said the revenue and the police refused to entertain applications seeking their permission for installation of Vinayaka idols at new places in Kumbakonam and as well as in the district.
Assuring that the organising committee members of each Vinayaka Chathurthi Celebration Committees will extend their cooperation to the revenue and police personnel like in the past, for the smooth conduct of the festival, he sought the intervention of the Collector to ensure that Vinayaka idols were installed at new places and for the smooth conduct of the festival.
