In a shocking case reported from Hyderabad, a 24-year-old man allegedly injected HIV-infected blood into a 22-year-old woman after her parents called off their wedding when he tested positive for the virus. As per the police, the wedding was called after the woman’s parents found that the man tested positive contagion.
The incident took place on March 11 when the accused forcibly administered the HIV-infected blood to the victim at her residence.
According to the police, the accused and the victim are relatives, and the woman’s parents had initially arranged their daughter’s marriage to him. Given that the man’s parents were already affected by HIV, the woman’s parents insisted on having him tested for the virus in September of last year.
“As he (the man) was found HIV positive during the check-up, the woman’s father cancelled his daughter’s marriage with him," a police official was quoted as saying by PTI, adding that the accused believed that by infecting her, she would be forced to marry him and remain with him forever.
Following a complaint filed by the woman’s father, a case was registered at Pocharam IT Corridor police station against the accused, charging him with attempted murder. The accused has since been apprehended.
The woman was admitted to a hospital for treatment, and further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
