Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead inside their Los Angeles home on Sunday afternoon, with investigators probing a possible family-related motive, according to media reports.

The couple were discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner, who immediately contacted police and indicated that another family member should be considered a suspect, citing concerns that the individual was “dangerous," TMZ reported, quoting sources.

Authorities are investigating claims that the killings followed a heated argument inside the home. Both victims were found with their throats slit, the report said. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later arrived at the residence as part of the investigation.

The couple’s 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, is being treated as a person of interest and is currently being questioned by police, according to sources cited by People magazine. No arrests have been announced so far, and police have not publicly confirmed the suspect’s identity or the circumstances leading up to the deaths.

Rob Reiner, 78, a celebrated filmmaker known for classics such as The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally, married photographer Michele Singer Reiner, 68, in 1989. The couple had three children together, sons Jake and Nick, and daughter Romy. Reiner also has a daughter, Tracy Reiner, from his earlier marriage to actor and filmmaker Penny Marshall.

Investigators are continuing to piece together the sequence of events as the probe remains ongoing.
