According to the Railways, the saloon coach was commercially booked through IRCTC on July 8 after an advance payment of Rs 3,08,580 was made by the group. The coach was scheduled to be attached to Train No. 12926 Paschim Express for a one-way journey from New Delhi (NDLS) to Mumbai (BDTS) on July 10.

Northern Railways said permission for the commercial operation of the saloon coach was issued on July 10, subject to operational feasibility.

“The primary roles and responsibilities of ensuring punctuality, safety, security, and convenience of the passengers lie with Railways without any compromise. In this incident, none got injured. Priest seen performing abhishek is being performed in a saloon car booked by party," the Railways said in its response.

The clarification also ruled out speculation that the ceremony had affected regular train operations or caused inconvenience to other passengers, as the rituals were conducted in a coach exclusively reserved by the group.

Social Media Reacts

Despite the clarification, the video continued to draw reactions online, with several users expressing surprise over the private booking of an entire saloon coach for the occasion.

While some questioned the unusual nature of the arrangement, others said the Railways’ clarification was necessary, pointing out that the ceremony was held in a commercially reserved coach and not in a general passenger compartment.

The clip has since become another addition to the list of unusual incidents from Indian trains that have gained attention on social media.
