Brett Lemieux, one of the famous sports memorabilia merchants, made a confession on Facebook recently, announcing the sale of counterfeits to dupe clients. The police were busy investigating the claims into allegedly fraudulent dealings. However, the police were out with a search warrant when they found the body of the dealer.

As per the Westfield Police, it was a case of suicide with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound," confirmed The New York Post. The incident came to light just hours after the dealer posted a detailed Facebook post revealing fake sales. However, the post has now been deleted as Lemieux’s Facebook account was taken down.

Lemieux, in his claim, alleged that his company Mister ManCave sold over four million fake items and surpassed $350 million in sales. His admission came on a group page named Autographs 101.

A resident of Westfield in Indiana, Lemieux revealed that it became an addiction for him to buy products, mix them with counterfeits, and sell to clients. It read, “Basically every autograph sold in the last 25 years you should have it looked at. It’s fake and someone sold it to you other than me." He was able to pull the counterfeit on such a massive scale by faking holograms and authentication stickers.

Moreover, Lemieux named multiple accomplices in the counterfeit operation. The names are, however, being withheld by the police until the investigation in the matter completes.

The claims made by Lemieux are yet to be verified as the police are still investigating the matter. Meanwhile, autograph authentication expert Steve Grad confirmed the police raid and wrote on X, “Huge forger finally went down yesterday… insane details are floating out there today. One of the biggest on eBay. Insane stuff. Maybe one of the biggest forgery rings in the history of autographs. Stay tuned."

The police have confirmed that they were conducting a raid in the counterfeit matter and found a dead body, without revealing the details of the deceased. The Sports Collectors Digest confirmed that Brett Lemieux is listed as the registered agent for the company, as per Hamilton County property records.
