A house was completely gutted after a power bank exploded at Thekkankuttor in Malappuram district, Kerala, on Thursday. The incident took place at around 10.30 p.m.
Aboobakker Siddique, an autorickshaw driver, and his family had gone out while the power bank was plugged in for charging at the house. The neighbours rushed to the spot as they saw the fire spreading, accompanied by a loud noise. They managed to control the fire using water from a nearby well.
Fire and Rescue Services from Tirur took over after some time and managed to douse the fire completely.
Though there are no casualties, the family has lost everything in the house, including clothes, documents and books of the children.
Mr. Siddique and family had moved to the small house with a hay thatched roof six years ago. The roof was also covered with a polythene sheet to prevent leakage.
