Some of the singers he recommended have been the ones who have given me great success in my career.” He recalled that it was Vijay who recommended Shankar Mahadevan for the song 'Naan Adicha Thangamatta' and Suchithra for 'Chinna Thamarai' in the film 'Vettaikaran', and that those choices were well received by the fans.

Vijay personally chose Vijay Antony for 'Vettaikaran' and 'Velayudham'

Vijay Antony explained that Vijay's music choices always have a significant impact. "He himself formed the team for 'Vettaikaran' and 'Velayudham'. He chose me as the music director for both those films; it was not the director's or producer's decision," he insisted. He said that Vijay's musical sensibility and respect for the talent of artists are the reasons why those songs still resonate with fans today.

Vijay made a special appearance as a lawyer in that film, which was directed by his father, SA Chandrasekhar. The song 'Suppose Unnai Kadhalichu' from 'Sukran' became the biggest hit of the year.
