League leaders Arsenal faced Manchester City in a high-voltage Premier League clash of the ongoing 2025–26 season on Sunday, April 19, at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, but suffered a 1–2 defeat. The loss in the away fixture has spiced up the title race, with City now closing the gap to just three points.

They have also played one game fewer than Arsenal, and the goal difference between the two sides now stands at just +1 in favour of the Gunners (Arsenal +37, Manchester City +36).

With 70 points from 33 matches so far, Arsenal lead the Premier League table. The Gunners will end their 22-year-long wait for the league title if they win all of their remaining five matches and Manchester City either lose or draw at least one of their remaining six fixtures.

In that scenario, the London-based club would definitely finish with more points (85 max) than their Manchester rivals (83 max).

If Arsenal draw any of their remaining five matches, they will need Manchester City to lose at least one game to stay ahead in the standings. Even in that case, Arsenal would still finish above City.

However, if both Arsenal and Manchester City win all of their remaining Premier League matches, the title will be decided on goal difference. As of now, it favours the London-based club by a narrow margin of +1.

If Arsenal drop points in any of their remaining matches and Manchester City win six games in a row then Pep Guardiola’s side will lift the title.
