Stuck running around in Donkey Kong Bananza and just wish there was a shortcut? Good news: there is! But it’s not served to you on a banana platter. Fast travel in DK Bananza is sneaky, semi-hidden, and only unlocks after a few key steps.
If you're tired of swinging back and forth across layers manually, here's your complete guide to unlocking and using fast travel.
When Does Fast Travel Unlock?
You can’t fast travel right from the start. First, you’ll need to defeat the Peekabruiser boss. After the battle, look out for a blue eel near the edge of the newly opened sinkhole to the Hilltop Layer. This friendly creature is your ticket to fast travel.Once you chat with the blue eel, fast travel becomes available.
Simple, right? But there’s more.
How to Use Fast Travel (Within the Same Layer)?
After you’re in the Teeleport network, here’s how you move around:
- Press the “–” button to open your map.
- Use the left/right D-pad to scroll through available fast travel spots.
- Press “A” on the location you want to jump to.
Important: You must visit a location once before it shows up as a fast travel option. No shortcuts to unknown spots!

Can You Fast Travel Between Layers?
Yes, but not through the map. To travel between layers (like from the Hilltop Layer back to the Jungle Floor), you’ll need to:
- Head to the Warp Gong in your current layer.
- Punch the gong.
- Wait for the Mother Eel to appear.
- Choose the layer you want to go to.
- Press “A” and off you go!
Once you’ve used a Warp Gong in a layer, you can then fast travel back to that gong via the map. But you still can’t hop between layers from the map itself. It's a two-step journey.
Pro Tips
- Fast travel unlocks after beating Peekabruiser + talking to the blue eel.
- Use “–” + D-pad + A to jump between known spots on the same layer.
- For inter-layer travel, use the Warp Gong + Mother Eel.
- You can’t teleport to places you haven’t already been.
You should also try activating Teeleport spots and Warp Gongs every time you reach a new area if you want to speed up your exploration. It'll save you hours of backtracking later.
