A training programme on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine was conducted for programme officers, senior public health officers, medical officers and supervisory staff of Hyderabad district on Tuesday, as part of preparations for the implementation of the HPV vaccination programme. The programme is likely to be implemented in the beginning of 2026, said a senior health official.
Addressing the participants, Hyderabad District Medical and Health Officer J. Venkati said it was essential for medical officers and supervisory staff to have clear awareness and technical understanding of the HPV vaccine to ensure smooth and effective implementation at the field level.
The training covered an overview of Human Papillomavirus and its link to cervical cancer, along with details on the vaccine schedule, eligibility criteria and dosage. Sessions were also held on cold chain management, vaccine safety, adverse events following immunisation surveillance and reporting, and the roles and responsibilities of medical officers and supervisory staff.
