Children from different parts of Hyderabad participated in the ‘Hyderabad City Children Parliament’, organised with the theme ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ (SDG 11) in the context of the city. It was organised by Montfort Social Institute (MSI) on Sunday (February 8, 2026).

The children spoke on issues such as air pollution, waste management, cybersecurity, disaster management, women’s safety, loss of public spaces and parks, affordable housing, and overall urban sustainability. They shared real-life experiences from their neighbourhoods and proposed child-centred solutions, as per a press note. The “Parliament” passed resolutions to address the issues.

CEO of Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Telangana, Divya Devarajan, virtually addressed the children, encouraging them to continue engaging with governance processes and community development. Noted academic and human rights activist, G. Haragopal, addressed the gathering and appreciated the critical thinking and civic engagement demonstrated by the child parliamentarians.
