A 58-year-old woman was killed and her 13-month-old grandson injured in a lift-related accident at an apartment complex in Hyderabad's Khairatabad area, fire officials said.
The incident occurred at Bhavana Apartments in Anand Nagar Colony, prompting a response from the Amberpet Fire and Rescue Team, which carried out rescue operations at the site.
According to preliminary findings, the woman, identified as Radha, was on the fifth floor when she allegedly opened the lift door before the elevator had arrived. The door reportedly opened unexpectedly, causing her to plunge through the lift shaft to the first floor.
She suffered fatal injuries in the fall and was declared dead.
Her grandson, Jeol, who was with her at the time, sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Fire and rescue personnel conducted the operation under the supervision of senior officials. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
