The Telangana government continues to pursue its ambitious plan to boost heritage tourism in Hyderabad, with a proposed 1.3-kilometre ropeway connecting the Qutb Shahi Tombs and Golconda Fort taking centre stage, alongside the sanction of ₹3.64 crore for the restoration of the historic Machli Kaman near Charminar.
During a field inspection on Wednesday (April 15, 2026), Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao reviewed progress on the ropeway project, which is currently in the clearance stage. Officials informed him that necessary approvals from multiple departments are awaited, following which the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be finalised.
