HYDERABAD: n a move aimed to enhance safety and comfort for women commuters, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) inducted 20 transgender persons into its security team on Monday. Officials noted that women make up 30% of metro passengers, and the move aims to create a more secure environment across the network.The newly inducted staff underwent comprehensive security training and willnow be deployed at select stations and onboard trains.

Their responsibilities include ensuring women commuter safety, assisting passengers with guidance and information, monitoring baggage scanner operations, maintaining visible concourse and street-level security, and supporting security.HMRL officials said the initiative underscores the metro’s commitment to inclusivity while providing passengers with a safer, more welcoming travel experience.
