Hyderabad Police caution public against AI-driven honeytrap scams

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, issued a public advisory warning citizens about a surge in AI-driven ‘honeytrap’ scams circulating on social media platforms.

Taking to his X, the official said fraudsters are using fabricated videos of women to lure users into downloading fake dating or video-calling applications. Once installed, these apps can access personal data, including contacts and photos.
