A 33-year-old married woman died by suicide in Hyderabad after she allegedly attempted to end her life twice during the past month.

According to NDTV, the deceased worked as a child psychologist at a popular school in the city and was married to a man who had been mentally unstable and received treatment at a hospital where the woman had earlier worked as an intern.

The report claimed that the couple first met when the man, identified as Rohit, was receiving treatment at a mental hospital in Banjara Hills. The deceased, Dr A Rajitha, was an intern then.

The man’s family reportedly noticed a significant improvement in his mental health under her care.

Subsequently, the man, a software engineer by profession, proposed to her and the two got married soon after.

In their complaint, the woman’s family alleged that Rohit left his job and was allegedly using her salary for personal expenses. Nothing could be changed despite the woman’s repeated requests to her husband to change his behaviour.

Her family also claimed that Rohit would physically assault her whenever she refused to give him money.

The harassment reportedly escalated, with Rohit, his parents, and his brother all being a part of it.

According to the report, the woman attempted suicide first on July 16. She was hospitalised after she had consumed sleeping pills. Later, on July 28, the woman allegedly jumped from the fourth-floor bathroom window of her apartment and suffered severe head injuries. She was again rushed to the hospital, where she was reportedly declared brain dead.

Meanwhile, the police registered a case based on the complaint by the woman’s family, the report claimed.

In another incident, a 43-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide by jumping from the balcony of her flat on the fifth floor in Hyderabad on August 2.

The woman, a housewife, was living with her husband and two children.

Police said they recovered handwritten notes from the house addressed to family members, and a case was registered.
