Nizam Club elections concluded on July 5 after a long delay.
HYDERABAD: After elections to the Nizam Club managing committee were stalled for months, the club finally went to polls on July 5, with members electing a new set of office-bearers and managing committee members in what club representatives described as a high-turnout election.According to the results declared by returning officer Zafar Javeed, Ashfaq Ahmed KM was elected vicepresident, securing 1,233 votes, defeating Asha Latha K, who polled 1,192 votes.For the post of honorary secretary, B Muthyam Reddy won with 1,333 votes, while M Amarender Reddy secured 1,088 votes.For the managing committee, the elected members included Syed Aamer Javeed, who emerged as the top vote-getter with 1,411 votes, followed by Rishiraj Singh Rathore with 1,189 votes and P Shailaja Reddy who secured 1,050 votes.
The young panel has come been elected defeating previous members after 18 years.Speaking after the results, newly elected vice-president Ashfaq Ahmed said the outcome reflected members’ desire for change and stronger governance at one of Hyderabad’s oldest clubs.“I am grateful to every member who placed their trust in us. This mandate is for transparent, accountable and member-focused administration, and we will work to restore confidence in the functioning of the club,” he said.
Newly-elected managing committee member Aamer Javeed said the team would focus on stability and reforms.“This victory comes with responsibility. Members have voted with expectations of cleaner administration, better facilities and a more inclusive approach. We intend to work together and deliver on that trust,” he said. The newly elected committee is expected to assume charge soon.
