HYDERABAD: A moving car caught fire on the PV Narasimha Rao (PVNR) expressway on Wednesday evening, leading to a disruption in traffic moving towards Rethibowli. No casualties or injuries were reported as the occupant, Zahid Hussain, managed to escape from the vehicle before the flames worsened.
According to the fire officials, the fire started around 3:45 pm, and the call was received at 3:51 pm, after which the Rajendra Nagar fire officials rushed to the spot."The car caught fire due to mechanical heat, leading to a spark. The fire was extinguished within 15-20 minutes. Fortunately, the occupant noticed the initial smoke at the right time, immediately stopped it, and moved out. While there were no injuries or casualties, the vehicle was completely damaged," an official from Rajendra Nagar fire station told TOI.
Traffic police personnel also arrived at the scene to ensure unobstructed flow of traffic. "Due to a fire accident, a vehicle burnt at PVNR flyover pillar no. 112. Vehicle movement is slow from PVNR flyover towards Rethibowli," the traffic police said in a post on X.
