The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) removed encroachments into government lands in Jubilee Hills and Khanamet on Wednesday.

In Jubilee Hills, 150 square yards of a two acre park land was encroached upon by a tenant running a ladies’ hostel at a house nearby. A statement from the HYDRAA said that the person has constructed rooms in 50 square yards of land, abutting the existing building. A 100 square yards more was fenced off and used as a private park.

Following complaints from local residents in Prajavani, officials, after a field inspection along with GHMC authorities, confirmed the encroachment, demolished the structure and erected fencing. A police case was registered.

In a separate case, five acres allotted by the government to the All India Velama Association near Hitec Exhibition Grounds in Khanamet was secured from encroachments. After the High Court granted a stay on the allotment following objections, association representatives complained of attempts by locals to encroach upon the land. HYDRAA conducted an inspection and fenced the five-acre parcel, installing signboards to prevent encroachment pending the court’s decision.
